2016 Chevrolet Volt Dominates ‘Most Efficient Cars’ Ranking, Car Sales Spike Up

With a number of upgrades come 2016 Chevrolet Volt from its second generation release, the model has upped sales in the market, 83% to be specific. With better interiors and exteriors that catered to mainstream designs, robust two-motor drive with 13% more efficiency due to its lighter weight, the model have sold a whopping 2,406 unit sales just this July.

Regarded as one of the best hybrid cars of today, Forbes reported that although the second generation 2016 Chevrolet Volts is 24 MPG short of the first generation's overall, its upgrades have been regarded to be the main reason why the unit sales for July spiked an 83% increase from last year's values. The enhancements of the model revolve around its driving dynamics, interior design, power capacity, and efficiency in fuel and/or energy.

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt Specs

The latest model consists of a new two-motor drive that makes it 12% more efficient than the first generation Chevrolet Volt released back in 2011. The hybrid car is also 100 pounds lighter, has liquid cooled lithium-ion battery that boosts of 18.4 kilowatts per hour, and has a lighter energy pack mass. Furthermore, the model also has a 1.5-liter capacity for gasoline-fed, four-cylinder combustion engine that may be run on regular unleaded fuel.

The car may run through cities, highways, and towns if the battery is well fed. However, when the energy available surpasses a certain limit, the second engine, the one that runs on unleaded fuel will then fire up.

2016 Chevrolet Volt Engine Upgrades

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt also has the capacity of 149 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque, allows for sufficient energy reserve with its primary engine, and drives with a combustion-free specification where the engine would remain off if the battery charge can accommodate the driving range.

In other news, Hybrid Cars reported that the sales for 2016 Chevrolet Volt have spiked up a whopping 83% compared to last year's 1,313 units sold. Earlier this year, it sold around 1,900 units but increased to a total of 2,406 from last month's number of units sold.

With better efficiency, impressive interiors, and increasing sales, the 2016 Chevrolet Volt has overpowered the hybrid cars industry this year.
