Nissan-Star Wars Collaborate As Part of Promotion for New Film

Lucasfilm has announced that Nissan will be one of five major brands that will help in promoting the upcoming film "Rouge One: A Star Wars Story."

The film is slated to hit theaters on December 16 and Nissan will be one of the world's leading brands that will help in its widespread worldwide campaign. The other brands that will be joining Nissan on this journey are General Mills, Duracell, Verizon and Gillette.

Every single brand will have a particular custom-designed campaign and ground-breaking program that would match with the theme of "Rouge One: A Star Wars Story" and its overall marketing campaign, according to Auto Guide.

Nissan is expected to play a huge and significant role in the film's marketing campaign because of its name and how its products connect into the title of the film. For the Japanese company's particular Star Wars campaign, it chose to focus on its 2016 Nissan Rogue model, which is available in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, according to Auto Evolution.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) did something similar during the promotion for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" last year, teaming up with Lucasfilm to create a Star Wars-themed campaign with ads that connected the cars to the film.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with such a remarkable group of promotional partners for 'Rogue One,'" Lynwen Brennan, Lucasfilm's general manager, said. "This first in a series of Star Wars standalone films represents an exciting new era for both Star Wars and Lucasfilm, and the partners joining us on this exciting journey have each designed a stellar campaign capturing the spirit and camaraderie of 'Rogue One.'"

The film is regarded as the first Star Wars standalone film. It stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker.
