One common problem in cities is heavy traffic, and Airbus, an aerospace company which is based in France has offered a solution to this, also as a means of redirecting its focus from passenger aircraft to helping solve city problems like traffic.The answer they have in mind is to devise a flying car.

The aerospace company dubs the activity as the "Project Vahana" which is a flying vehicle platform intended for personal transportation, and also for delivering of cargo, and according to a conducted feasibility study, the project was deemed plausible. The most accurate description of the flying car is that it is a drone fit for a passenger, and flight trials are scheduled to take place in the latter part of the next year, which is possible as a lot of the technology, tools, and other materials needed to make this a reality are already at hand.

One of the major hurdles is the system for avoidance and airborne detect, which has also been used in other models for cars, like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Tesla Model S. Plenty would agree that this would be the most crucial component for the project to be successful.

Airbus has already prepared for the testing phase through striking a deal with Singapore's Civil Aviation Authority for airspace, despite the fact that there are currently no legal policies with regards to vehicles of this particular type, and tests would be done at the University of Singapore sometime in 2017. Design-wise, the CityAirbus would be equipped with several propellers and works the same way of flying as that of a helicopter or a drone.

While the vehicle would first be operated by a pilot, developments would then be underway to enable people to operate and fly autonomously.
