Floyd Mayweather Buys Ferrari-Inspired Limited Edition Kode57 Supercar

Floyd Mayweather already has an impressive collection of exotic cars to his credit and is all set to include one more, the Kode57 that is worth a grand $2.5 million, TMZ reported.

This also makes the famed boxer to be among the first to opt for the supercar that is believed to have an extremely limited run of just a few handcrafted units though the actual figure is being kep a secret as of now.

Designed by ex-Pininfarina designer Ken Okuyama, the Kode57's Ferrari link is unmistakable. That perhaps can be explained from the fact that Ferrari had been relying on the design expertise of the Italian firm for its own cars. Okuyama himself had been the chief architect of Ferrari Enzo, besides being involved in a number of high-profile projects such as the Ferrari P4/5, 599, Maserati Quattroporte and so on.

Launched a few days back at The Quail on the Monterey Peninsula in southern California, the Kode57 sits on a high-strength aluminium chassis that again is believed to have been sourced from Ferrari 599 GTB. That apart, Kode57 also incorporates carbon fiber body panels as means to save weight.

Okuyama explained the '57' in the name Kode57 is in tribute to the year 1957 that saw the birth of many a legendary sports cars while motorsport also went for greater acceptance worldwide the same year.

As MotorAuthority reports, the Kode57 seem to be influenced by the Enzo, more specifically the front end. That apart, the Kode57 also draws heavily from another of Okuyama's masterpieces, the Ferrari Rosso that was launched in 2000 in celebration of 70 years of Pininfarina.

Another unique aspect of the Kode57 is the front fender design that allows the driver to have a view of the front wheels, as is the case with open-wheeled race cars. The scissor doors that are hinged on the reverse is another quality of the Kode57 that makes it stand apart from the crowd. Then there is also the suspension that allows for the ride height to be adjusted by 45 millimetres and exemplifies another Ferrari link, designed as it is by the specialist Ferrari tuner Novitec Rosso.

Powertrain options aren't known though it's likely to have excess of 600 hp on tap.

Mayweather would be getting the car via Nigerian car dealer Obi Okeke. Among the other big-name cars the boxer has to his credit include the likes of Lamborghini Aventador, Bentley Mulsanne, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, McLaren 650S to name just a few.
