Back To The Future: 2002 BMW Hommage Concept Unveiled, More Spectacular Than Ever

In late May, BMW surprised us with the 2002 BMW Hommage, a spectacular concept presented at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este intended to pay homage to the centenary of this iconic model. Now, months later BMW has transformed the concept "look" to an even more spectacular one and was unveiled at the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach.

BMW unveils the 2002 BMW Hommage concept called the Turbomeister to commemorate its success story with turbocharged models. In 1973 BMW 2002 turbo became the first mass-produced vehicle in Europe to incorporate a turbo, and turned the BMW 02 series in a genuine sports car. The addition of turbo technology paved the way to develop sports cars and great titles in competition as the first World Formula 1 turbocharged vehicle - won by Nelson Piquet in 1983.

The 2002 BMW Hommage has the familiar iconic colors of orange and black band of carbon, which was sported by some BMW (and Porsche) racing in the 70s. It also has its prominent "shark nose" and great wings in the front and rear that binds the huge number of outlets and air vents in order to optimize the flow air around this coupe and maximize downforce .

The characteristic wheel arches that resemble the versions of the original 2002 worked well for the circuit and the black stripe that wraps around the waist of the body. It gives the front a very seventies rear spoiler that has glass covers that only show the inner light workings when illuminated. To top it all off, 20" of alloy wheels that are bicolored were used for the 2002 BMW Hommage Through them you can see the clips golden brake with the logo of BMW Motorsport .

"The Hommage car brings together the past and future of BMW into a confident statement of unadulterated driving joy," explains BMW design boss Karim Habib. With that we couldnt agree more.
