Nissan has announced the pricing structure of its new Titan non-XD series of pickup trucks which now starts at $35,975, going all the way up to $53,505 for the top of the line model. Pricing apart which does make the Nissan offering competitive vis-a-vis similar pickups from Fords or Chevrolet, the Japanese carmaker is also banking on a more comprehensive warranty scheme to make the Titan trucks seem more dependable to buyers.
The range starts with the 'S' base model that is priced $35,975. That applies to the rear wheel drive version with the all-wheel drive model adding another $3030. Next comes the SV that costs $38,865, with the all-wheel drive again priced an additional $3030.
Next up is the SL that sports a price tag of $47,575 while an additional $3080 will fetch the 4X4 model. Siting at the top is the Platinum Reserve which comes with all the bells and whistles and will set one back $53,505, while the same with 4X4 capability costing $3090 more. Then there is also the Pro4X that sports a permanent 4-wheel drive setup and costs $46,215, CarAndDriver mentioned.
All the prices mentioned apply to the Crew Cab model. Choice of powertrain is limited to 5.6-liter V-8 that churns out 390 hp along with 401 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing capacity is pegged at around 9,390 lbs, while still offering a combined fuel economy of 18 mpg.
Nissan is also offering a longer five-year/100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty for the new Titan series of trucks, which makes it the most comprehensive warranty coverage for any pickup currently available in the US. Ford, Chevrolet and RAM all offer standard 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
Nissan also stated the longer warranty applies to all Titan pickups in either 4X2 or 4X4 configuration or with gasoline or diesel engine options, AutoGuide stated. That sure is a ploy to wean buyers away from the bigger players in a market that is driven more by brand loyalty than perhaps the technicalities of it. Ford and RAM responded their pickups easily outlasts the other offerings and hence will continue to have an edge over the Nissan Titans.
The new 2017 Titan range of pickups are expected to reach showroom s towards the end of this month itself.
