Mercedes Enters the Electric Car Industry, Competes with Tesla and BMW

Mercedes-Benz currently has  a plan in creating its own electric vehicles, entering the industry where BMW and Tesla are the dominant forces.

This is after initial claims by the company that vehicles that uses alternative fuel will become the trend in the near future.

Mercedes will release two sports utility vehicles as well as two sedans that are  powered by electricity alone. This is stated by two people who choose to remain anonymous due to the undisclosed official information.

Unofficial reports claim that Mercedes will have a new sub-brand that will cater to the company's new electric cars.

Dieter Zetsche, the Chief Executive Officer, says last June that there are plans to unveil the new electric vehicle on the Paris motor show that will be held on September.

Tesla has experienced immense success with the Model S. This proves to be a challenge to other electric car makers, as the company succeeds despite a wide array of issues surrounding its self driving mode.

German automakers are not giving up the fight as a testament to Mercedes-Benz plans to enter the electric automaker industry. This is to improve the company's reputation in line with climate change and the world's campaign against pollution.

However, the German consumer market is still doubtful of the new electric cars that will be made, because of limited driving range, long hours of charging, expensive prices, and designs which are not too pleasing.

Wolfgang Bernhard, Daimler's truck chief says in an interview: "When Tesla started coming up many years ago we decided at the time, and I believe correctly, that the technology wasn't quite ready. Now we believe the time has come to earn money in e-mobility over the next five to 10 years."

The profits of BMW this week were very much inclined to the positive side, making the thought of mass producing electric cars a very practical choice. With this, a latest version of the i3 has supported this progress.
