Fiat Chrysler Automobiles All-New 124 Spider: Specs And Pricing Revealed; Set to Contend With Mazda MX-5 Miata, Does It Have Downside Features?

Fiat is not giving up the battle in terms of dominance and sales. It has recently unveiled its all-new 124 Spider to the world. As the specs and pricing were revealed, notions of the all-new 124 Spider having its downside features and the rising competition from Mazda MX-5 Miata arise.

MLive reports that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles gears up to bring the fight closer to home with its new segment, the all-new 124 Spider. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles affirmed that the segment would be worth $24,995 for the 2017 model year and it does not include the shipping and external fees as well.

Although the all-new 124 Spider is marked as one of the lowest-priced turbocharged convertibles in the U.S., the Mazda MX-5 Miata is its strong contender having a markup price of $24,915. Meanwhile, "Our mission at FIAT is to deliver Italian design and heritage in vehicles that are fun to drive," Olivier Francois, head of the Fiat brand for FCA Global, said in a release.

The Globe and Mail reports that the all-new Fiat 124 Spider integrates the MX-5 chassis that are intricately styled as well as a drive train by Fiat. A legacy that embodies the classic 124 Spider nameplate that was revealed to the public more than 5 decades ago.

Also, "The all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider brings these elements together and comes loaded with open-air fun, stunning Italian design and the proven turbocharged MultiAir 1.4-liter engine," Francois added. As for the engine of the all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider, it features a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that grants incredible 160 horsepower as well as the 184 lb-ft of torque that are similar to the Classica and Lusso models.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles previously faced a major downturn in some areas of production and sales but the company aims to see the all-new 124 Spider reign supreme. As the specs and pricing were revealed, it implies the strong commitment of the segment to dominate the car industry. However, its downside factor is that it has to contend and overwhelm the market presence of the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
