Survey Reveals Consumers Ok To Pay More For In-Car Apps

New survey suggests that drivers in the U.S., Germany, and China are more likely to consider paying extra to have built-in car apps for their vehicles. Results from the survey gave similar answers to what the respondents want, and that 10 years from now, future cars would already be connected cars.

An Accenture survey revealed some common preferences by drivers when it comes to in-car apps, such as advanced driver assist systems, infotainment, and other high-tech services, according to CTimes magazine. In fact, when asked on how much people are considering to pay to have these built-in car technologies, 71 percent are ok to pay up to 10 percent on top of the car price.

Specific features that consumers are asking include remote services like bCall and eCall. The former works as an SOS transmitter to the closest emergency center in times of critical safety situations.

On the other hand, bCall is a system which sends out a message to vehicle recovery service providers in case the vehicle is stranded or breaks down, like towing services. More respondents favored the eCall functionality, which accounted for 63 percent in the group, according to the publication.

Axel Schmidt, Accenture managing director on automotive practice, said that consumers leaned more into making optional purchases of the in-car services they prefer most, in a BusinessWire post.This impression alone is a given opportunity for car makers to further raise revenues as well as promote better aftersales camaraderie with their customers.

Schmidt also stated that auto manufacturers need to be aware of which added features are prefered more by their customers. He further added that the demand for a number of other in-car technologies such as smart home integration or online service bookings are likely to increase over the next few years, according to the publication.
