Expected to go on sale early next year, the 2016 Discovery Sport is pegged by many car enthusiasts to be a source of success for Land Rover. The seven-seater SUV replaces the Freelander in the finest ways, evoking a classy yet practical family ride vibe.
Prospects could be getting a glimpse of the vehicle next month, as it might appear at the London Motor Show, carwow.co.uk predicts. The outlet forecasts an entry-level price of about £40,000 and £60,000 for the best-in-class.
The new model draws inspiration from the successful Range Rover Evoque. Auto Express points that this can be found in the chassis and switchgear, stepping up the game through additional space. That being said, Evoque owners will find the Discovery Sport's interior very familiar.
One thing that makes the new car different, however, is its adoption of an all-new, multi-link rear suspension set-up.
Its seating configuration, wittingly dubbed as "5+2," works well to support two smaller-sized passengers. Front seats are nevertheless comfortable, the Car Connection says, on top of a good driving position. Face-level air vents are also present in all three rows. Each rider is allotted a USB charging port.
As per GP Online, the upcoming vehicle sports a 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin turbo-diesel engine, a 430 Nm torque, a top speed of 117mph, a combined 53.3 mpg economy, CO2 emission at 139g/km and an acceleration of 0-60mph in 8.4 seconds.
Another notable plus point for the Discovery Sport is its isolation of road noise, which Auto Express finds to be the most impressive thing about it. The vehicle is also reported to have a relaxing character, evident in its convenient smoothing-out of road bumps. With these features available, it promises a ride of convenience for the entire family.
The new Discovery Sport is touted to rival the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and top versions of Jeep Cherokee and GMC Terrain, the Car Connection wrote.
