Choosing the right vehicle for your personality style is something you would expect from the general public when making an auto purchase, but not law enforcement.  This is exactly what is happening in California right now.  The California Highway Patrol is updating their outdated vehicles and have chose Ford Explorer.

California law enforcement knows it is important to be update to date as well, while making sure citizens obey the law. and choosing high performance vehicles can help them.  Accordingly to the Los Angeles Times, The California Highway Patrol, plans to buy the Police Interceptor version of the Ford Explorer as its mainstay patrol vehicle.

As times change and cars go out of style, many of the police agencies have been scrambling to find an adequate replacement for the Ford Crown Victoria which went out of production last year. Some of the the leading replacements around the country are the police versions of the Ford Taurus, Chevrolet Caprice and the Dodge Charger.

Will this be good news for police offers in California?  Only time will tell.  For now, the Explorer still has to past a bunch of tests before final approval. But if it comes through, they could start showing up in the highways of the Golden State by October as 4,000 Crown Vics are gradually replaced.
