Lyft has announced that it will be offering transportation services to six new cities next week. On its official blog site, Lyft Blog, the company revealed that more passengers will have the chance to experience its carpool options.
The cities where the budget-friendly ride-sharing company will be launched include New Jersey, San Diego, Denver, Philadelphia, Seattle and Newark, and San Jose. To sum up, Lyft Line will then be available to 15 cities across the United States.
In the blog post, the company mentioned their growing market. With the additional locations covered by the Lyft Line, 25 percent of the Americans now have the chance to enjoy a more affordable ride. Besides the cheap cost, carpooling also helps the environment because lesser cars will be travelling on the road across the country thereby reducing emissions of harmful gases. In addition, traffic jams will be avoided.
"Lyft's mission is to make our communities better by bringing positive change to transportation - Lyft Line is the heart of that movement," stated by the co-founder of the company Logan Green as per the publication.
According to The Verge, carpooling might be the next big thing considering its advantages to the environment and to the community. Companies offering similar services like Lyft and Uber are claiming that this kind of transportation service might be the trend in the future. The news portal adds that there is a great chance that this would change people's attitude towards transportation.
With Lyft Line, passengers heading to the same direction can ride the same car and divide the cost of a ride. However, getting to their destination might take longer than a private ride since each passenger needs to be dropped at their destination.
With Lyft expanding its services to other cities outside San Francisco where it first started, there is also a big possibility that the company will launch in more cities making cheaper transportation accessible and available to everyone.
