Jeffrey Katzenberg Thanks Tesla's Elon Musk For Saving His Life After Car Accident

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg is giving credit to Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk for his survival of a car accident in Beverly Hills last week.

Katzenberg, who is known to own a Tesla Model S, got into a car accident on Oct. 19 while driving his electric sedan, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was brought to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

The hospital stay only last for a few days, as Katzenberg was released on Oct. 22 and made his first public appearance a day later at GLSEN's Respect Awards at the Beverly Wilshire, where he credited Musk to him making it out of the accident alive.

"Thank you, Elon Musk, you saved my life," Katzenberg said, adding that results from the accident included a shattered arm and wrist as well as a destroyed car.

"It was pretty bad. It was a big surgery and not fun," he said.

The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, MarketWatch reported.

Musk responded to Katzenberg's praise on Twitter on Monday, writing that he is not the one that the DreamWorks CEO should thank.

"Compliment from Jeffrey is much appreciated, but the people of Tesla deserve all the credit," he tweeted.

Independent online forum Tesla Owners Club asked owners and enthusiasts in a recent thread if automatic braking, one of Tesla's safety features, has saved any lives, to which several participants said that it prevented collisions.

Musk's response came just days before Katzenberg is set to receive the first-ever Sid Grauman Award presented by Hill Valley at the American Cinematheque Awards, which will take place Friday night at the Hyatt Regency in Century City.
