Rockstar To Update 'GTA V' Online Customization Shop With Lowriders (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

Rockstar Games will release an update Tuesday that will bring lowriders to "GTA V's" online customization shop for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, according to Car Scoops Magazine.

"Grand Theft Auto" is a blockbuster action-adventure series in the $100 billion video game industry, The Wall Street Journal noted. The fifth installment in the series generated over $1 billion in sales in its first three days when it was released in 2013.

"With the release of 'Grand Theft Auto IV,' we created the first downloadable add-on, episodic-content. That began to shift the business to this business where you get involved with a title, and if it's a big hit, and you really love it, there's an opportunity to stay involved on a longer basis. The company that's providing the content, whether it's us or one of our competitors, can continue to monetize that engagement. In the past fiscal year, digital distribution was over one-third of out revenue. Half of that is recurrent customer spending," said Strayss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive Software, which owns Rockstar.

As part of Take-Two's business plan to engage online gamers, Rockstar will re-open Benny's Original Motor Works, which it refers to in a press statement as "a new customs shop in downtown Strawberry that offers a huge range of lowrider customizations that can turn your classic junker into a high-spec, tricked-out king of the streets."

Rockstar will add extra customization options for lowriders in the game. Some of the customizations include hydraulics, which will make your car bounce, and there will be different strength air pumps to choose from, Car Scoops Magazine reported.

Other Lowrider Updates include new missions from Lamar, a fourth purchasable property, and new hair, clothing, and accessory options, according to PlayStation Lifestyle Magazine.

Rockstar is also having a sale for "Grand Theft Auto" on the North American PlayStation Store through Monday, Oct. 19. The Lowriders Update will be available on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
