13-Year-Old Girl Wins $70,000 Chevy Tahoe, Surprises Everyone With What She Does Next

How could a girl too young to drive win a $70,000 car? Thirteen -year-old Erin Byrnes pulled it off, first by spending her summer collecting aluminum cans and bottles to recycle on behalf of Syracuse, N.Y. charity Joseph's House, according to the Tea Party News Network. The effort netted the ambitious girl $200, which she used to purchase 60 raffle tickets at the annual Joseph's House fundraiser.

"We never dreamed in a million years that Erin would win," Erin's mother told Syracuse.com.

When Rev. Richard Pryor pulled Erin's name out of the pile of tickets and the owner of Sun Chevrolet Todd Caputo called Erin's last name, she walked to the stage to claim her prize – and then promptly donated the Chevy Tahoe to the charity.

Joseph's House is a home for pregnant women considering abortion but seriously exploring other options. The home raised $400,000 last year – $600,000 initially to open its doors – and hopes to raise $500,000 next year, according to Syracuse.com.

Erin wants to continue helping to raise funds for Joseph's House. She has already started collected cans and bottles that she will recycle for cash and then donate to the charity, American News reported.

The two Catholic grandmothers who founded Joseph's House are still trying to figure out how to use Erin's donation. Online donations are welcomed on their website at jhfw.org.
