Apple Rumors: Tech Giant Working On Heads Up Display For Cars

Apple continues to be the subject of rumors, the latest being that it is working on a heads up display (HED) system that will span almost the entire windshield of a car.

The report comes from Global Equities Research analyst "Acid" Trip Chowdhry, who says that the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant's HED will measure 27 to 50 inches and could show drivers icons and information while they're on the road, according to The Washington Post. He added that the project could be Apple's "next generation" device, as it could come with sensors and "may be completely gesture-controlled."

The technology in the curved-glass screen is commonly used by jet pilots, and Chowdhry says Apple's launch "does not seem imminent," as the tech could be used for a completely different device, like a TV. He added that Apple appears to be in the "early stage of something that could be a lot bigger."

Chowdhry has made several predictions about Apple's projects in the past, having infamously declared that the company would "disappear" if it didn't release the Apple Watch in May 2014, BGR reported. He also predicted earlier this year that Apple would make 100,000 apps for the watch available for consumers at the Apple Store, only for the company to launch only 3,000 apps.

Apple declined to comment on the project, adding more to its uncertainty, AutoGuide.com reported.

If the rumored HED is a reality, it could be included in the self-driving car that Apple is said to be working on, which could make driving much more convenient.
