Austin Dillon Daytona Crash: Racer Walks Away From Wreck (VIDEO)

As the checkered flag flew at the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway early Monday morning, a potentially deadly scene was brewing. A massive pile-up occurred, sending Austin Dillon's No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevyrolet soaring over the cars beneath it and into a catch fence, according to Fox Sports.

With the rest of the field following behind winner Dale Earnhardt Jr., the cause of the fourth car wreck Sunday night appeared to happen at the finish line when Denny Hamlin's No. 11 Toyota nudged up against Kevin Harvick's No. 4 Chevrolet. Hamlin's car then made contact with Dillon's, causing it to dive into a catch fence and onto the infield grass. The engine was ripped from the body, and after Dillon's Chevy came to a stop on its roof, Brad Keselowski's No. 2 Ford came barreling into Dillon's wrecked vehicle.

Amazingly, as crew members were rushing to the aid of Dillon, he was able to exit the car and give the crowd a wave, Road And Track reports.

"I thought that was pretty awesome," he said. "As soon as I looked up and I don't know if it was Casey Mears' pit crew member or Casey right at the door, but that made me feel really good and comfortable. The only thing I was worried about was that there was oil everywhere and I wanted to get away from the car and that was why I was scrambling to get out from under it. And then just wanted to wave to the fans and let them know I was all good."

A total of 13 fans were checked for injuries, with four being treated at the infield care center, while one other went to a local hospital, according to USA Today. Dillon walked away with a bruised forearm and tailbone.
