Toyota Debuts Sienna Minivan For Driving On Tough Roads

Toyota continues to come up with new ideas for its vehicles, the latest being a Sienna Minivan that can handle any terrain.

The vehicle, dubbed the Toyota Ultimate Utility Vehicle (TUUV), made its debut this week at the Japanese automakers new U.S. headquarters in Plano, Texas, according to Yahoo! Autos.

Toyota built the 4x4 minivan on the chassis of its Tacoma pickup truck, giving it ultrawide tires for driving off-road, Car and Driver reported. The front is toughened up with a new bumper, a mounted winch, auxiliary lights and dark-tinted lights.

Other features include rear-hinged front doors, bulkier suspension and a matte black finish.

Toyota will bring the UUV on its 16,500-mile transcontinental Ever-Better Expedition, which started in Plano earlier this week and will span 110 days, Gizmag reported. The goal of this trip is to have engineers and other employees learn what drivers experience in Toyota's vehicles on a regular basis and use that information for future projects.

The expedition will cover a variety of major spots in the U.S., including New York City, Route 66, Death Valley and Alaska.

Toyota fans will have to wait a while to learn more about the UUV, as the company plans to reveal everything about the new minivan at the SEMO auto parts show in October.
