Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is calling back nearly 4,000 vehicles due to an issue with their cruise control software.

The issue:

Company engineers have discovered that select Fiat 500e hatchbacks were equipped with software that could misread torque levels, according to FCA. As a result, vehicles could shift into neutral inadvertently.

2013-2015 Fiat 500e hatchbacks

The Fix:

Dealers are being sent service instructions by FCA this week. Once the software is available recall notices will be sent out for owners to schedule an appointment with their local dealer.

Injuries or Accidents:

FCA says it has not received any reports of injuries, accidents or complaints linked to the issue.

Recall Date:

FCA has not said when the recall will begin officially yet. To keep up-to-date on the recall, owners should make sure they check out the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's VIN Lookup Tool  until a recall date has been decided.

Number of Models Affected:

Approximately 3,975 vehicles are affected by the recall.
