Start Moving: 37 Million Travelers Expected for Memorial Day Weekend

Have you packed for the long weekend yet?

AAA estimates that over 37.2 million travelers will set foot for the three-day Memorial Day weekend, and nearly 90 percent of travelers will drive. Over 2 million travelers will make their journeys by plane.

To put that in perspective, that means over 10 percent of the entire American populace will travel more than 50 miles for a barbecue, gathering, or other festive occasion.

Low gas prices have something to do with the higher-than-average figure, although a fairly temperate forecast doesn't hurt, either.

As the old adage reminds us, better get a move on.
