James Bond Cars: Here's 5 of Our Favorite 007 Rides

Seeing your first James Bond movie is a moment you never forget. Whether you loved, or hated, Bond's unreal gadgets, his taste in women or the way he prefers his martinis, it sticks with you as time goes on.

What this writer remembers most about seeing Bond for the first time on the silver screen is the outlandish cars the secret agent was allowed to drive. Not only that, they all come equipped with at least one gadget that you wouldn't have thought possible if not for Bond.

We recently got a taste of a chase scene from the upcoming Bond film "Spectre" and to celebrate we decided to put a list together of some of our favorite rides featured in 007 movies.

5. Aston Martin DBS V12

What movie was it in?

"Casino Royale" 2006, "Quantum of Solace" 2008.

Most interesting feature:

Aside from a few secret compartments, this Aston Martin was lacking in the gadget department. We loved it nonetheless, as it helped introduce a new, deadlier Bond to the world.

Who drove it?

Bond, played by Daniel Craig in both films.

4. AMC Matador "Car Plane"

What movie was it in?

"The Man with the Golden Gun" 1974.

Most interesting feature:

Bond is left speechless by villain Francisco Scaramanga and his henchman Nick Nack after they turn an AMC Matador into a "car plane" for a quick getaway.

Who drove it?

Scaramanga, played by Christopher Lee, who was accompanied by Nack, played by Herve Villechaize.

3. Lotus Esprit S1 "The Submarine Car"

What movie was it in?

"The Spy Who Loved Me" 1977.

Most interesting feature:

Ridiculous? Sure. But like the Matador, it didn't take long to decide the most interesting feature for this ride. It turns into a submarine! If that's not enough, Q strapped missiles onto this bad boy making it even more dangerous.

Who drove it?

Bond, played by Roger Moore.

2. BMW 750iL

What movie was it in?

"Tomorrow Never Dies" 1997.

Most interesting feature:

Too many to just name one. It can be controlled by a cellphone, has self-inflating tires, caltrops, and, of course, missile launchers. This car was ahead of its time though it met its demise far too soon.

Who drove it?

Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan.

1. Aston Martin DB5

What movie was it in?

"Goldfinger" 1964, "Thunderball" 1965, "Goldeneye" 1995, "Tomorrow Never Dies" 1997, "Casino Royale" 2006 and "Skyfall" 2012.

Interesting features:

Despite its machine guns and secret compartments for Bond's toys, the DB5 will forever be known for its much-debated ejector seats. Regardless, Aston Martin might not be around today if it wasn't for this ride.

Who drove it?

007, of course, played by Sean Connery, Brosnan and Craig in their respective films.

We could have easily made a list of 10 or even 50 cars, so feel free to tell us some of your own favorites in the comments section below.
