No Joke: Fiat-Chrysler Offers Free College Education to Dealership Employees

If you're strapped for cash but want a college degree it might be time to consider a job at a Fiat Chrysler dealership.

FCA has announced that if you work at a Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep or Ram dealership in the U.S. you'll have the opportunity to earn a no-cost, no debt college diploma through Strayer University.

You're probably wondering, "Okay, what's the catch?" Well, there is none. You simply have to be a dealership employee with a thirst for knowledge, according to FCA.

"Our goal is to position our dealer network as the 'employers of choice,'" said Al Gardner, Head of Dealer Network Development, and President/ CEO of the Chrysler Brand, in a press statement. "Our collaboration with Strayer demonstrates our focus on building our dealers' hard-working employees' skill sets to help them perform at an optimal level while also investing in their long-term success."

Strayer, a Virginia-based university with campuses around the country, is offering FCA dealership employees a free degree through the "Degrees Work" program, which was created in collaboration with FCA.

The Degrees Work program will first be made available to FCA workers in the Southeast where 356 company dealerships can be found. Employees will be able to enroll in classes for the summer and fall semesters to get started on their degrees.

"FCA U.S. is creating new ways of learning that work for both the employer and the employee. Skills are developed that immediately drive measurable results and employees are given a pathway to a college degree without debt," said Karl McDonnell, CEO of Strayer Education, which owns Strayer University, in a press statement.

The move was a brilliant one on FCA's behalf since both dealerships and employees will benefit from the Degrees Work program. People will strive to work at an FCA dealership now to get a free college degree, meanwhile dealership employees will be able to learn new skills that could help them perform at a higher level.
