Steering Gear Recall: Ford Recalls 518,000 2013-2015 Fusion, Lincoln MKZs and 2015 Edges

The Issue:

Ford has launched a recall of Edge, Fusion, and Lincoln MKZ vehicles produced between Feb. 3 and March 20, 2015 at multiple assembly plants. These vehicles may have faulty steering gear motor attachment bolts that could break due to corrosion cracking.

The Fix:

Ford and Lincoln dealers are being told to swap out steering gear motor attachment bolts on all affected models for new ones, seal them up and replace broken steering gears, free of charge to customers.

Injuries or Accidents:

The Detroit automaker said in a statement that it is unaware of any injuries or accidents linked to the recall.

Recall Date:

The recall is expected to begin on May 18.

Number of Models Affected:

Approximately 487,301 vehicles can be found in the U.S. and its territories and 31,012 in Canada.
