Door Latch Recall: Ford Recalls 390,000 2012-2014 Fiestas, 2013-2014 Fusions and Lincoln MKZs

The Issue:

Ford has launched a recall of Fiesta, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles made between February 2012 and May 31, 2012 over a door latch issue. Door latches in these models could contain faulty pawl spring tabs which could cause doors to open inadvertently while a vehicle is in motion.

The Fix:

Ford and Lincoln dealers are being told to replace all door latches, free of charge to customers.

Injuries or Accidents:

Two injuries, one accident and 207 complaints have been linked to the issue so far.

Recall Date:

The recall will begin on June 1. Owners will start receiving notices in the mail sometime in May.

Number of Models Affected:

Approximately 336,873 are located in the U.S. and its territories, 30,198 can be found in Canada and 22,514 in Mexico.

Who to call?

To reach Ford's customer service line call 1-866-436-7332. Lincoln's customer service number is 1-800-521-4140.
