Earth Day 2015: 5 Cars to Consider, Not Just EVs

Earth Day is here once again, the day that reminds us to recycle, be cautious with our water usage and to avoid gas guzzlers.

While we do agree you should recycle and turn the faucet off while brushing your teeth you don't have to trade in your car for a bicycle just yet.

Here are some automobiles, from EVs to trucks, you should consider to do your part this Earth Day.

5. Chevrolet Spark EV

If you live in California, Maryland or Oregon, the Chevrolet Spark EV is the perfect Earth Day car. With an incredible 130 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque you'll barely realize you're driving an electric car. Chevy also recently announced that it's lowering the price of the 2015 Spark EV so Earth Day is a perfect time to pick one up.

4. Ram 1500 2WD

For a truck, the 2015 RAM 1500 2WD standard diesel isn't terrible way to go on Earth Day, averaging a combined 23 mpg despite its 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine, according to FuelEconomy.gov.

3. Nissan Leaf

The car that started a movement is still going strong. The current Nissan Leaf is powered by a 24kWh rechargeable lithium-ion battery and lacks a gasoline engine so you can enjoy your Earth Day fun without wasting time at the gas station.

2. Toyota Scion iQ

With room for four people, or two if you're planning on planting a tree this Earth Day, the Toyota Scion iQ is a great fuel-efficient (36/37 mpg city/highway) non-hybrid option.

1. Tesla Model S P85D

We recently reviewed the Model S P85D, and boy is this ride much more than an EV. The quickest and most powerful Model S ever features a range of over 200 miles per recharge and 691-hp. Plus, you won't get the Earth Day dead battery blues thanks to Tesla's extensive Supercharger network.
