Lion Opens Car Door During Safari, Watch in Horror

A family was left terrified after a lion who wandered over to their vehicle during a South African safari was able to pry open a door to their vehicle.

As one of the lions walks over to the car, the family can be heard taking pictures and laughing as it pushes its face against the window.

Their laughter quickly turned to screams seconds later as the beast manages to unlock the car door with its teeth.

"You were supposed to lock the door," one of the passengers yells during the video as the lion opens the door.

Someone the family was able to get the door to close without the lion getting inside. Who knows what would have happened if it did.

The video was uploaded by the girl's brother Joshua Sutherland in March 2014 on YouTube but it recently went viral after being posted on Reddit. The video has currently collected over 1,417,000 views at press time.

Sutherland wrote on the description section for the video that his sisters were visiting their parents, who were serving as missionaries in South Africa before having the "experience of a lifetime."

"Did you know lions could open car doors? My sisters were visiting our parents, while serving a mission in South Africa, and had an experience of a lifetime," he said in the description on YouTube.

Note to self: lock all doors during a safari ride.
