The 1500-HP Koenigsegg Agera Supercar Stole the Show in Geneva - 2015 Geneva Motor Show

The Geneva Motor Show is the debutante ball for the world's most outrageous cadre of hypercars—but there are still standouts among the wild concepts and production vehicles on display. Swedish automaker Koenigsegg was on hand to do its part, and more than quietly surprised with its Regera hypercar.

What is it?

The Regera is a two-door work of sculpture that joins the successful, limited-run Agera R hypercar, from coachbuilder Koenigsegg. While its styling is fairly conservtive, we didn't expect to see something this outrageous in terms of performance in Geneva.

What's new or changed?

The Regera is a brand-new model for the brand that already keeps its model lineup fairly tight. The big news that set the floor of the Geneva show ablaze was the Regera's output: 1500 horsepower from a turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 and a battery pack. A feat of engineering is the single-speed transmission, dubbed "direct drive," that controls the whole operation. Fully charged, Koenigsegg avers that the Regera can keep up with the world's fastest.

Also notable is the Regera's integration with Apple's CarPlay, some time before the technology is due to spread to the mainstream market, and its memory foam seats.

Can I buy it?

How quickly can you whip out your billfold? Koenigsegg only plans to build 80 copies of the Regera, and it's our best guess that the limited run will move (pun intended) quickly. Watch this space.
