MINI Creates Clubman Vision for Grand Turismo 6 (PHOTOS/ VIDEO)

Mini has become the latest automaker to release high-performance concept for the "Gran Turismo 6" video game.

The car isn't based on the recently-unveiled Mini JCQ hatch surprisingly, but instead on a vehicle yet to be released.

The Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo was unveiled Thursday with a wide stance to allow it to handle like a go-kart, according to a company video.

This is BMW Group's second collaboration with the popular video game.

"Mini has many highly emotional achievements to its name in motor racing," said Anders Warming, head of Mini design, in a company statement. "The Mini Clubman Vision Grand Turismo literally puts these onto the virtual race track in Gran Turismo 6. The image of a go-kart on the road has recurring appeal."

Mini's Clubman has a top speed of 180 mph, generates 389 horsepower and has a "weight" of 2,135 lbs.
Once downloading the updated game, fans can add the car to their virtual garages by completing a lap in a new seasonal event, which is available for a limited time only according to Mini.
"The Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo combines all the hallmark Mini design features presented in the sportiest and most exciting style," said Christopher Well, head of Mini exterior design, in a company statement. "A Mini like this has never been seen before."

The Clubman will be available in five different color options and gamers will also be able to adjust carbon diffusers in the front and rear.

The "Vision Gran Turismo" initiative allows automakers to dream up concepts for the game. It was introduced to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the gaming franchise.

Automakers from all over are starting to see the benefits of teaming with the gaming world. Design teams from Aston Martin, Volkswagen Infiniti and others have all introduced concepts as part of the initiative, though Mercedes-Benz was the first.
