Kia has announced that its Sportspace grand touring concept will launch on March 3 at the Geneva auto show.

Bearing the automaker's hallmark "tiger nose" grille, the Sportspace concept is a midsize vehicle with a wagon-style frame, Autoblog.com reported. It is believed to preview a replacement for the Kia Optima midsize sedan.

The vehicle is touted by Kia as both cool and comfortable, a bold concept that offers a roomy interior and doesn't sacrifice ease for style. Kia designed the concept for long-distance travel, gearing the Sportspace toward "fast and efficient travel with maximum comfort and minimal stress, in the best grand touring tradition of the weekend getaway," the automaker said in a statement.

The concept's sustainability and economy are also emphasized, leading Autoblog to wonder if Kia is planning a hybrid powertrain for the sporty model.

The Sportspace comes from designer Gregory Guillaume; Kia hasn't yet said whether a production version will appear.

"We set out to design a car that is a totally new breed of grand tourer--one for active people who need reasonable cargo space on the weekend, but don't want to compromise moving around in style, comfort and with an element of sportiness," Guillaume described in a statement.
