10 Vehicles That Can Act as Wi-Fi Hotspots

Whether or not automakers are worried about the future of car brands, they are increasingly offering in-vehicle systems that make cars more like computers than ever. (You know, just in case advanced military defense technology wants to easily connect to your car.)

Here are 10 vehicle options that can include Wi-Fi hotspots for several smartphones, tablets or other devices.

1. The 2015 Chevrolet Malibu was the first General Motors vehicle equipped with 4G LTE, allowing owners to connect up to seven devices with Wi-Fi.

2. The 2015 Buick Verano includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot in the standard trim; its IntelliLink system can remember up to 10 devices in the network, while connectivity can be provided for up to seven devices at the same time.

3. The 2015 GMC Canyon offers OnStar capability and a built-in hotspot for up to seven devices.

4. The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, the Canyon's segment cousin, also has OnStar capability and comes with the customary three months of service or 3GB of data free.

5. The 2015 Audi A3 was the first Audi vehicle to get LTE capability, offering a hotspot for as many as eight devices through Audi connect.

6. The 2015 Audi A8 also has Audi connect and comes with a six-month trial subscription.

7. The 2015 Chrysler 200 has built-in 3G connectivity that works with a Uconnect Wi-Fi hotspot subscription.  

8. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee also has Uconnect capability; owners can purchase a hotspot subscription at the rate of $9.99 per day, $19.99 per week or $34.99 each month.

9. The 2014 Dodge Durango also features Uconnect by subscription.

10. The 2015 Ford Taurus is one option that comes with Ford's SYNC system, which is available for 24 Ford models.
