Chicago Auto Show: 7 Reveals To Watch For

The 2015 Chicago Auto Show, which opens for media previews on Thursday and for the public on Saturday, will feature plenty of crossovers and trucks as automakers emphasize utility.

Honda Pilot

The new 2016 Honda Pilot is slated to debut at this year's show. The refreshed version will mark the first update for the sport-utility vehicle since 2009, according to Car and Driver. Touted for its new technology and improved safety, the revamped Pilot will feature a "dramatic shift in design" while staying "family-friendly," Honda said in a statement.

Acura RDX

The compact crossover will be refreshed for the first time in three years, getting some design tweaks as well as powertrain and suspension improvements, according to Automotive News.

Toyota Avalon

The Japanese automaker will introduce a new version of its Avalon sedan that sports a lower grille design, echoing the latest editions of Toyota's Corolla and Camry, Left Lane News reported. The Avalon hasn't received an update since the 2012 model year.

Kia Trail'ster

Kia will unveil its latest concept at the Chicago show, calling its electric all-wheel-drive Trail'ster a "bold off-roader ... conceived by Kia's California design studio and built for city dwellers seeking the ultimate urban escape."

Ram

The Fiat Chrysler brand will show off a new model, but Ram hasn't yet specified what that will be.

Ford Interceptor

Ford teased the new police sedan last week, revealing that the updated Interceptor will be based on the refreshed Explorer shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Mitsubishi GC-PHEV

The carmaker is bringing its Mitsubishi GC-PHEV concept to North America for the first time, a model that "shows off the brand's upcoming design language on a large SUV platform," spokeswoman Laura Conrad told AutoWorldNews in an email. The GC-PHEV powertrain comprises a 3-liter supercharged V-6 engine and an electric motor.

Mitsubishi's new design language will first be seen in a production model when the 2016 Outlander launches at the New York International Auto Show in April, Conrad said.

In other news, Mitsubishi has reportedly been in talks with Nissan for a midsize sedan model, while its latest offering is a more powerful engine option for the Outlander Sport.
