The new BMW M6 Coupe and M6 Convertible have been announced by the German automaker on Saturday, making a comeback after two years of absence.

Both models will be equipped with a 4.4L V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, enabling the M6 Coupe and the M6 Convertible to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds and 4.3 seconds, respectively. The top speed for both models will be 250 km/h (155 mph) or 305 km/h (189 mph) with M Driver's Package.

The company stated that the new model will cut the fuel consumption by more than 30 percent compared to the previous 2010 model, which had an EPA rating of 11 city / 17 hwy mpg.

According to reports, the Coupe will be showcased next month at the Geneva Auto Show, while the Convertible will be up at the New York Auto Show in April. Caradvice.com has reported a possible, but not officially confirmed, 4-door version of M6, competing against Mercedes-Benz CLS, could appear at the Paris motor in September.
