Porsche 911 Turbo, Turbo S Get Refreshed Aerodynamics Kit

Porsche Exclusive has introduced an optional aerodynamics kit for the Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S that offers "even more character and sportiness" to the vehicle that can produce 560 horsepower.

The special package has a "new, distinctive front spoiler and a completely redesigned rear deck lid that has a fixed rear spoiler with side winglets while maintaining the automatically adjusting rear wing," the automaker described.

According to Porsche, the new aerodynamics kit was put through its paces at the test circuit at the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, Germany, to undergo wind tunnel testing.

"The key goal in its development was to improve driving dynamics by further increasing downforce, while preserving the same coefficient of drag as the standard equipment," the automaker said.

"This ensured the proper integration of the flow-optimized Aerokit into the harmoniously balanced overall concept of the high-performance 911 Turbo models."

The kit improves downforce for better stability and control, the New York Daily News reported. Total downforce at 186 mph increased by 37 pounds to 57 pounds in the Speed setting and by 40 pounds to 331 pounds in the Performance setting while driving on the track, according to Porsche.

The aerodynamics package comes in two options, the car's body color or high-gloss black.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S, which gets 560 horsepower and hits 60 mph in only 2.9 seconds, starts at $151,100. Adding the new kit will increase the price by $6,950 when ordering a new car, while retrofitting with the optional package will cost $6,886.
