Nissan Storms the Chicago Auto Show with its 370Z and NV200 Compact Cargo Van

The Chicago Auto Show was first held in 1901. The latest event is staged this week at McCormick Place, a venue so large that several manufacturers’ displays include indoor test tracks for show visitors. Long a favorite, mid-winter, showcase for automakers around the world, more than a dozen production and concept vehicles are making their world or North American debuts in Chicago this year, including the revised 2013 Nissan 370Z.

The centerpiece of Nissan’s activities at the show, however, could be found at the Nissan Commercial Vehicles display, where Joe Castelli, vice president, Nissan Commercial Vehicles and Fleet, unveiled the 2013 Nissan NV200 compact van. Already sold in more than 40 countries, the NV200 is expected to make a big impact in North America when it goes on sale later this year, thanks to its innovative design, large cargo capacity, good mpg and expected low total cost of ownership. It also serves as the foundation for New York City’s Taxi of Tomorrow.

The NV 200 follows the Nissan NV Cargo, introduced in spring 2011, and the recently announced 12-passenger Nissan NV Passenger van that goes on sale this spring, giving Nissan an impressive portfolio of vehicles in the North American commercial vehicle market.
