Spotted: Is This Tesla's Model X on the Test Track? (VIDEO)

Tesla's long-awaited Model X has reportedly been spotted at Alameda Airport being tested at fairly high speeds.

As first reported by Electrek, a lucky YouTube user who happened to be at the skatepark on Wednesday saw the new Tesla on the runway and shot a video with his iPhone 5.

Instagram user brandon_kiehne also appears to have snagged a look at the new Model X to share with the world, posting this photo on Instagram.

"I saw this one being pulled into the trailer at #AlamedaNAS at an entrance to the closed airfield," read the caption. "The truck pulling it was a Tesla vehicle. After it was closed up I asked if I could be nosey hoping to find out what the car was but I got a quick 'not on this one.'"

Tesla showed a pre-production version of the Model X at this year's CES. The seven-seat crossover sport utility vehicle is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of this year; however, it was initially expected in early 2014 and has been delayed multiple times.

Its exterior sports "falcon"-style doors that hinge on the roof for passengers climbing in or out of the back, while the inside has three rows of seats and a large infotainment display.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has pointed to his "perfectionist" nature as a factor in the Model X's delay.

"It's damn hard to make an SUV in particular that is beautiful and yet incredibly functional at the same time," Musk told Bloomberg last February. "It's a harder design problem than the Model S."
