Mercedes posted the fastest record in Formula One pre-season at Jerez of Spain on Thursday, with Nico Rosberg driving the MGP W02.

The new record was lap time of 1:17.613 while completing 118 laps. Rosberg's records was followed by former seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, who was most rapid on Wednesday with 1:18.561.

"I'm happy with the testing that we have achieved here in Jerez, and we learned a lot about the Pirelli tyres and a few other things for the new car," said Rosberg.
