General Motors has made headlines plenty of times for recalls in the past year, but this particular safety campaign isn't a result of the automaker's mistake.

The company has issued a stop sale on around 6,300 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave utility vehicles after Goodyear announced a recall of 48,500 tires that will start sometime in February, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Goodyear's impending recall affects 6,281 GM vehicles, 5,830 are in the United States, so GM is ensuring that dealers hold off on selling the three models.

The 48,500 Fortera HL tires in question are size P255/65R18 109S and apparently did not hold up as well as they should have during endurance testing. Goodyear has said the problem "does not indicate a safety issue" but the tires could have small cracks in the tread after being driven.

Of the tires involved in the recall, Goodyear made around 32,100 specifically for GM full-size crossovers. The automaker will officially recall the affected models after Goodyear launches its tire recall.

Neither Goodyear nor GM has reported any accidents or injuries in connection with the tire recall.

Goodyear notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the recall on Friday.
