At the first media conference of the 2015 Detroit auto show, GM CEO Mary Barra was ebullient. She had not one, but two electrifying vehicles to reveal, but the star of the Chevrolet press conference was clearly the Bolt concept car: "the EV for everyone," as she claimed.
The Bolt is General Motors' vision for a 200-mile electric vehicle priced at or around $30,000. It's an entirely new tack for the brand that popularized plug-in hybrids with the Volt and then supplemented its lineup with the Spark EV. About the size of a BMW i3, the Bolt is a fairly realistic view of a future addition to the GM lineup.
Everything. Few details were released as the Bolt silently glided onto the show floor, although Barra was bullish on chances for production.
Optional DC fast charging stands to decrease charging time significantly.
