Chevrolet to Resume Exclusive Engine Build Experience for Corvette Z06

Chevrolet will resume its exclusive Engine Build Experience for Corvette Z06 customers, the only program of its kind for performance cars.

This spring, the $5,000 option will give Corvette Z06 owners the chance to assemble the 650-hp supercharged LT4 engine for their vehicles at GM's brand spanking new Performance Build Center inside the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.

"Chevrolet recognizes the passion customers have for Corvette and the Engine Build Experience offers them a truly unique opportunity for hands-on involvement in the creation of the heart of their new car," said Harlan Charles, Corvette product manager in a press statement. "It's a chance to bond with their new car."

The Engine Build Experience, which is available for the 1LZ, 2LZ and 3LZ trim combinations, includes a full day at the Performance Build Center, photographs of the experience, a personalize engine plaque and of course, instruction from an engine assembly technician.

Once the process is completed, the engine will be put under the hood of each customer's personal Z06.

Customers are responsible for all travel costs however.

"It's important for customers to understand their engine won't be installed the day after they built it," Charles added. "It will flow into the scheduling process for vehicle assembly, which depends on a number of logistical variables."

Customers will be able to watch their vehicle be assembled through a special tour organized by the National Corvette Museum. A Museum Delivery option is also available, which personalizes the buying experience with delivery at the National Corvette Museum, which is right across the street from the Bowling Green plant.

Customers who purchase a Camaro Z/28 can also help put together their 505-hp LS7 V-8 engine at the Bowling Green facility.
