Ford Vehicles to Integrate Radio Disney App For iOS, Android

Ford has announced that the Radio Disney smartphone app will be available to Ford SYNC AppLink users sometime this year. This means all drivers using the service will be able to stream music devoted to kids, tweens and families 24 hours a day inside any new Ford vehicle just with the touch of a button.

The Radio Disney app works when a user connects a smartphone to any available Ford SYNC through Bluetooth, according to the automaker. An image of an artist's CD cover will be displayed on the screen along with pause and play buttons to allow drivers to make all musical selections.

"This brand and programming strength is key to Radio Disney's growth," said Patti McTeague, Senior Vice President, Communications for Disney-ABC TV Group to AutoWorldNews. "Last fall, we announced that we'd be investing in new digital distribution partners and additional music-centric programming to better reflect the habits of its consumers and an evolving marketplace."

The Radio Disney app for Ford SYNC AppLink will be on display during the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas on January 6-9 and released throughout the United States sometime this year.

Radio Disney is available 24-hours and features some of the most popular acts in music and video, with artist interviews and live performances. It is considered a "music industry influencer," by Ford as it reaches 21 million listeners every week.

"Radio Disney's greatest attribute is that it's a trusted brand, one that parents consider to be an age-appropriate, music-focused environment for their children and a programming the entire family can enjoy together in the car, and everywhere," "We know this because we conduct extensive research and are "in the field" every day talking to our young listeners and their parents.  When kids and tweens tell us they enjoy the programming and find it "relevant" to their lives, and parents agree, we know we're reaching our goal."

Through any paired mobile smartphone, Ford SYNC lets drivers make and receive calls and operate other features without the use of hands through voice controls.

Ford SYNC AppLink customers can control their apps using voice commands or buttons on the vehicle display. With the introduction of its SYNC 3 service, AppLink will be able to automatically discover and load the Radio Disney app onto the in-vehicle screen without any issues.

Ford SYNC AppLink can be found in more than 1.5 million vehicles on the road in North America, according to the automaker.
