2015 CES: Mercedes-Benz Teases Self-Driving Concept

Mercedes-Benz teased an image Tuesday which previews an autonomous driving concept.

The un-named vehicle will be introduced next week during the Consumer Electronics Show as the automaker looks to add yet another vehicle to its growing list of contributions in the world of self-driving concepts.

The image reveals that the automaker avoided the traditional two-or three-box styling in favor of a monobox design.

The car features an extremely short front end, a long wheelbase and a discreet bulge located on the rear portion of the roof that will most likely carry  a number of sensors and cameras in order to get a sense of that's ahead on the road.

Though we don't know what is inside the car yet, the short overhands on both ends should result into a spacious interior cabin, with lounge-style front seats capable of swiveling to face rear seats. If you're not driving the vehicle you might as well be comfortable, right?

Premium materials, like an infotainment system with several touchscreen displays, a wood floor and central table, could also be found inside, though nothing has been confirmed by Mercedes-Benz officially yet.

None of the specs have been revealed by the automaker yet, but there's a good chance there will be an eco-friendly powertrain found under the hood of the autonomous concept.

Mercedes-Benz also recently showcased an autonomous truck concept.

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the new concept will be on hand at the CES in Las Vegas on January 5th, 8:00 PM PDT. Daimler Chairman Dr. Dieter Zetsche will be on head to introduce the vehicle.
