Rowdy Drivers, Noise Complaints May Have Closed Down Cars and Coffee Irvine

Cars and Coffee Irvine, a beloved part of Southern California auto culture, has been told to close down.

The event, which is "practically a California car culture institution," brings car fans together each Saturday starting at 6 a.m. on Gateway Boulevard. That is, until it was ordered to shut down.

The rumor mill cites noise complaints from the neighbors, which include a hotel and apartment buildings that are under construction as well as offices for Taco Bell, Mazda and Ford.

Rowdy drivers are also reportedly at fault for the event shutdown.

"The organizers of C&C Irvine have been asking car owners to 'keep their revs low' this entire year and there has been as consistent police presence outside the event to discourage burnouts," the Millionaire Car Club reported. "These measures did not stop the occasional showboater who thought it would be cool to light up his tires. To make matters worse, the crowd that stands by the exits, eggs drivers on when they do not see the police."

Southern California car enthusiasts don't have to be too worried--Cars and Coffee Irvine organizers are scouting around for a new location. While no official announcements have been made about a 2015 venue, word on the street is that the event could be held at the decommissioned El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in the future.

The event brings together owners who want to show off their vehicles as well as fans who just want to see Cars and Coffee Irvine's unusual concepts, classic cars, exotic rides and more.
