Some lucky Ferrari SpA test-drive customers will get to take a 1,050-horsepower hybrid prototype car for a spin at an annual Ferrari event to celebrate car-racing this week.

Putting together an 860-horsepower V12 and an electric engine generating an additional 190 horsepower, the model could cost 2.5 million euros ($3,078,700) and will be reserved for a limited pool of customers, Bloomberg reported.

A product of Ferrari's FXX K research and development program, the prototype is built on the LaFerrari hybrid. The Italian automaker will probably only make a few dozen FXX K vehicles, which will be available for select customers who will drive the powerful hybrid only on tracks in private sessions or at supervised events.

"A focus on delivering maximum efficiency at every stage of every track lap has resulted in extensive but integrated work on the entire car body in terms of both active and passive aerodynamics," Ferrari described in a statement.

Destined for a "highly select" group of test drivers, the FXX K will launch next weekend during the Finali Mondiali at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, according to the automaker.

The fortunate few who get to test-drive the 1,050-horsepower FXX K should be excited.

"Unfettered by homologation and racing regulations, the FXX K was developed to be completely uncompromising, incorporating technological innovations that will guarantee an unprecedented driving experience," Ferrari promised.
