Gas Prices Dropped to Four Year Low in November

Nationwide gas prices dropped to a four year low in mid-November when the price of a gallon of gas dipped to $2.86 a gallon.

The last time the national cost of gas was that low was in the waning months of 2010, according to GasBuddy.com. The only difference is that in 2010, prices were on the rise, and would keep rising until gas hit its peak at nearly four dollars in the summer of 2011.

In comparison, AAA believes that this year and in early 2015, gas prices will continue to drop based on low crude oil prices.

Though gas prices are that main reason airline ticket costs have increased over the last couple years, passengers don't see ticket price deductions at the same rate that car and van passengers save when gas prices drop, according to GasBuddy.com.

A number of Americans are taking these savings into consideration when making travel arrangements with van rental companies like State Van Rental.

People traveling in large groups tend to look to airplanes for transportation since they don't know they can travel together on the ground for a decent price.

State Van Rental is offering customers a number of quality vans this holiday season, including 15 passenger vans and 12 passenger luxury vans.

The rental fee for a 7-passenger mini-van is equal to the cost of gas for two hundred miles driven for just one day. This means if you were to drive four hundred miles a day during a road trip, two thirds of your travel costs would be from gas.

The usual U.S. household purchases about 1,200 gallons of gas a year. Vehicle owners have purchased an average of $3.38 a gallon from January through November, according to MarketWatch.com.
