2014 Los Angeles Auto Show: 2015 Volvo V60 Cross Country

Volvo's product line continues to grow at the hands of its new ownership, including this latest variant of the V60 Wagon; the V60 Cross Country.

What is it?

Much like Cross Country models of years past, this new model sports a 2.6" increase in ground clearance over the standard V60, taller-profile tires, skid plates, and rock-guard protected wheel arches. Clearly poised to attack the Audi A6 Allroad and the bulk of Subaru's wagon/crossover lineup, the V60 combines its rugged utilitarianism with that sleek and minimalist interior and exterior design the brand's latest models have come to be known for.

What's new or changed?

The new Volvo might not be able to claw away at the Jeep/off-road SUV segment, but the Cross Country will definitely be a more level-headed option for outdoor enthusiasts wanting the ability to head out a little further into the wilderness.

Can I buy it?

The new model is expected on showroom floors early in 2015, starting with a 250-horsepower five-cylinder T5 model mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with all-wheel drive, which is said to be capable of delivering a reasonable 23mpg. As with the bulk of the model lineup, we can likely anticipate a 300 horsepower T6, but the real question remains whether or not a toned-down version of their wild 2.0L turbocharged mill will also land in the adventure capable wagon further on down the line.
