2015 GMC Yukon Denali Pricing Jumps $5,650 with Eight-Speed Transmission

General Motors has announced pricing for GMC's updated 2015 GMC Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali, which feature both a new eight-speed automatic transmission and a bump in cost.

The Yukon Denali SUV starts at $64,965, reflecting a $5,650 increase compared with the 2014 model, while the Yukon XL Denali version begins at $67,665. The updated models are available at GMC dealerships.

The Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission offers improved fuel efficiency, increasing EPA highway mileage on two-wheel drive Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models to 22 miles per gallon. Four-wheel-drive versions should be boosted to 15 mpg.

"Comfort and capability are not compromised for fuel economy," GMC said. "Not only is the 8L90 transmission capable of handling more torque than the six-speed transmission it replaces, but its shift controls and solenoids are more responsive and provide quicker shift times.

"A new torque converter also delivers smoother performance at low speeds, especially when carrying heavy loads or pulling trailers."

For the interior, the 2015 Yukon Denali and XL Denali adds a new hands-free power liftgate that can be opened and closed by putting a foot under the rear bumper; a wireless charging center for mobile devices; and OnStar with 4G LTE offering data connectivity and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Calls to a GMC representative about the pricing change were not returned.
