2015 Hyundai Azera Debuts in Miami Alongside New Tech

Nearly overshadowing the introduction of refreshed styling for the 2015 Azera luxury sedan, Hyundai introduced updates to its BlueLink connected car technology today in Miami with young drivers in mind.

Senior group manager for connected-car technology Michael Dietz introduced the Safeguard Alerts update to BlueLink, which allows parents to remotely monitor their children's driving and habits, including geo-fencing, speed alerts, and adherence to curfew. The app, similar in concept to apps offered by Ford and other original equipment manufacturers, will be available on all BlueLink-equipped Hyundai vehicles.

The introduction of the Azera in Miami is barely a coincidence, as Florida is the second-largest sales market for the Azera. The automaker sold 520 Azeras through September in Florida, according to public relations manager Jim Trainor.

Like the city of Miami itself, which is undergoing a facelift to encourage younger interest, the front and rear fasciae of the Azera were restyled with "satin finish," and front fog lights are now composed of LED bulbs. Technological enhancements include standard rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot detection.

The 2015 Azera retains its 3.3-liter, 293-horsepower V-6 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, with no changes to fuel economy. It supplements the rear-wheel drive Genesis and smaller, front-wheel Sonata sedans. Pricing has yet to be announced.
