The 2014 Chevrolet Equinox crossover recently earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to a release by the automaker.
Five stars is the highest rating a vehicle can receive from the NHTSA.
The automaker confirmed that the 2014 Equinox received five stars in the side impact test, and four stars in front and rollover crash tests.
Rating apply to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options of the 2014 vehicle, according to the NHTSA.
The Equinox competes with similar vehicles like the 2014 Ford Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and the Kia Sportage.
Safety features found on the most recent Equinox includes antilock brakes, electronic stability control, six airbags, and traction control, according to the automaker.
The 2014 Equinox also received "Good" ratings in every crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, including the moderate overlap front crash test.
The moderate overlap front crash test was designed to replicate what would happen when two vehicles of the same weight crash into each other going under 40 mph, according to the IIHS.
