Chrysler has confirmed that production of the 2015 Chrysler 200 has begun to make sure vehicles reach dealerships sometime in late spring, according to a company press release.
The Chrysler 200 starts has been listed for a base price of $22,695, including a $995 shipping fee.
Chrysler invested around $1 billion in the Michigan production plant that manufactures the midsize sedan.
The Chrysler 200 competes with similar vehicles like the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, Honda Accord, and the Toyota Camry.
The plant was set to close just a few years ago, but it remained opened thanks to a grassroots campaign.
Workers have even started reciting the "I Believe" pledge to improve quality and morale inside the production plant.
"You have demonstrated a passion to deliver great products for our customers," said Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, according to the release.
The automaker added 800 jobs to support production at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, according to the release.
