Aaron Paul and 'Super Fast Cars': Action-Packed 'Need for Speed' Trailer Debuts

Lamborghinis, McLarens and Mustangs, oh my.

Intended to be a nod to racing flicks of the 1960s and 1970s, upcoming action film "Need for Speed" will pay proper homage by featuring high-speed cars galore, Jalopnik reported.

The Super Bowl trailer for the film, which is set to hit theaters on March 14, debuted Sunday night.

Director Scott Waugh told the movie's star, 34-year-old Aaron Paul of "Breaking Bad," to channel Steve McQueen for the role, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"I told [Paul], I think you're the next Steve McQueen," Waugh said. "The dudes love him and the women love him."

Even though it's named after a video game, the "Need for Speed" adaptation is intended to be more "Bullitt"  and less your typical franchise film.

"There's no narrative there," Paul told EW. "It was a blank canvas. All we needed to stick to was super fast cars."

One video game aspect that Waugh sought to preserve was the in-the-seat action.

"Scott wants the audience to feel like they are in the car with these characters," Paul told EW. "We use helmet cam shots so you feel like you're actually behind the wheel--that's one element that we took from the game."

A 30-second Super Bowl spot gave fans a taste of the action film in the first quarter of the game. Dreamworks also revealed an extended peek at the movie shortly after the 30-second trailer aired, according to MTV News.

Think you're a better driver than me?" Paul asks in the longer preview.

Paul, who became a household name with his turn as Jesse Pinkman on AMC's "Breaking Bad," had fun adding an action title to his resume.

"I never thought of myself as being an action hero but it is a blast," he told EW.
